Victoria Lupian was born in 1995, in Los Angeles, CA, USA. She received her Associates in Arts degree in Studio Arts from East Los Angeles College and has been included in a student exhibition at the Vincent Price Art Museum in Monterey Park, California. She is currently attending the University of California, Berkeley, where she is earning her BA in Art Practice (2021). She currently lives and works in her native hometown of Los Angeles.
Artist Statement:
My general art practice revolves primarily around my fascination for Pop Art, graphic novels, and vintage comic book illustrations. The main focal point of my work is females and female identifying symbolism. I use traditional elements of painting while simultaneously appropriating applications of pop art mixed media, such as flat bright colors gold leaf and screentones. My works take on a carefree, superficial, and idealized approach to the feminine figure in an illustrative and comical manner. I am also heavily inspired Los Angeles street art scene and decided to take my own approach to the movement.
